About the App

STORM is a private tool for organizing airsoft events held by the Metrocity Squad group. The app lets players in the field track their own and team positions, complete missions, communicate via chat, and receive commander orders.

Data We Collect

  • Player identity: name, callsign, team and faction assignment. You enter these when joining an event.
  • GPS location: continuously during the event, including background location (when your phone is locked). Used solely to display on the map to other players in your faction and to the event admin.
  • Photos: when you photograph a marker or mission delivery, the photo is attached to the record. Accessible only to faction players and event organizers.
  • Chat messages: private and team messages. Retained until end of the event, then accessible only to organizers within the event archive.
  • Device status: battery level (every 5 min), screen orientation, platform (iOS/Android), app version. Used for better field coordination.
  • Push notifications: token for delivering notifications about messages, missions, and events.

What We DON'T Collect

  • No advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID).
  • No third-party analytics (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.).
  • No cross-site tracking.
  • No personal data beyond what's strictly required for event operation.

Where Data is Stored

Data is stored on our own server (storm.metrocitysquad.cz) located in the European Union. The server is operated by Metrocity Squad. Data is not shared with any third parties, with the exception of technical services required to run the app:

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — only for delivering push notifications (token + notification content).
  • OpenStreetMap — map tiles (we send nothing about you there).
  • mapy.cz — optional base map, when the event organizer uploads it.

Data Retention

  • During event: all data actively.
  • After event: event record (positions, markers, chat) retained for statistics and replay for a maximum of 12 months.
  • Player details: name + reconnect token deleted when player leaves the event via "Disconnect" in Settings.

Data Deletion

The most sensitive data in the app is the player's GPS location. It is collected only for the duration of an airsoft event and used solely to display on the map to other players in the same faction and to the event organizer.

You can delete your data as follows:

  • Local data on the device: in the app go to Settings → System → Reset app. This wipes all local state (position cache, maps, chat).
  • Server-side data (GPS log, marker photos, chat messages, player name): email us below or ask the event organizer. The admin will erase your server records within 30 days.

STORM does not collect any data that would identify you outside the context of an airsoft event — you choose your own name (often a callsign), and the GPS data is only meaningful during an active event.

Your Rights (GDPR)

As a user you have the right to:

  • Access your data — email us below and we'll send it.
  • Delete your data — email us below and we'll wipe you from the database.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Data portability — we'll provide a JSON export.
